Grateful for You Surprise Bouquet

This week, I created a card using the Layered Plaid Stencil (and two other products) from Witt & Sass Stamp Company!

It's time for fall and Thanksgiving cards, so I thought the plaid would look warm and happy with the beautiful sunflowers from the Falling for Scarecrow stamp set. I made the plaid paper using the Layered Plaid Stencil with Prima Color Philosophy Carrot and Burnt Sienna inks. The front of the card is fairly simple, with a stamped, popped-up centerpiece, wooden embellishments from the Fall Sassy Pack, and some colored glass drops from my stash.

When the recipient opens the card, s/he is treated to a surprise... a mini pop-up box stuffed full of cheerful sunflowers! I continued the plaid paper inside and added some leaves from the Falling for Scarecrow stamp set. I colored the sunflowers and leaves with Copics.

Even the little box has stitched plaid panels on the sides! I kept the white panel blank for now, and I'll add a sentiment or hand-written note when I decide to give the card to someone.

Magical Friendship Week - Sorting Hat and Wizardly Houses

Magical Friendship Week continues! This week, the Design Team from Witt & Sass Stamp Company partnered with the Kindred Stamps Design Team to create projects featuring the wizarding world!

For my second card this week, I created a fully interactive card. On the front, the Sorting Hat announces your house. The Reveal Wheel allows you to turn the wheel, and all four houses are available. (I'm a Ravenclaw!) I created the front panel with Distress Oxides and textured them using Tonic Mica Mists (gold and silver). The Sorting Hat, table, and house letters are all popped up with foam, although it's hard to tell in the photo.

Your card recipient may think the interactive feature is finished, but when s/he opens the card, all of the house mascots pop out!

The inside mechanism is called a Pivot Pop Up, so the panels fold flat when you close the card. I used icons from the Witt & Sass Magical Creatures Stamp Set and the Kindred Stamps Students of Magic and Wizard Friends Stamp Sets to create the patterned paper for the inside panels. There is space to write a short message to your card recipient on the white panel at the bottom.

How cute are these mascots? I think Pytherin is my favorite. He just looks so cuddly, even though he's a snake!

Magical Friendship Week - Wizard Holiday Fun

This week, the Design Team from Witt & Sass Stamp Company partnered with the Kindred Stamps Design Team for Magical Friendship Week!

For my first card this week, our three young wizards decided to play in the snow. Muggles build snowmen; wizards build snow creatures!

I turned the Witt & Sass Magical Creatures into snow creatures for this scene, and the Kindred Stamps Students of Magic (including Hedwig!) are having some winter fun together. I used the Witt & Sass Layered Clouds Stencil with my Copic markers, instead of the usual ink dauber, because I wanted them to be soft, fluffy winter clouds.

Inside, I included another snow creature: Hufflepuff's badger mascot!

Witt & Sass Stamp Company - Sexy Hexy Hilda

I am so excited to share my project using Sexy Hexy Hilda, a new stamp set from Witt & Sass Stamp Company!

Instead of going in a Halloween direction, I was inspired by Wicked: The Musical, one of my favorite musicals. It's about time we had a beautiful, curvy Elphaba!

In this scene, she's fleeing the Emerald City after the Wizard tricked her into casting the spell to create the flying monkeys. She's defying gravity, ready to lead her rebellion, and flying over a field of red flowers like the ones Fiyero gave her at the train station. (FIYERO! *sniffle*) Chistery, who hasn't mastered flying yet, is holding on to the broom for dear life.

To create the scene, I "monkeyfied" the terrified kitty on the broom and gave him wings (taken from the bat in this stamp set). I colored all of the elements with Copics and added glitter to the Emerald City. I created the background using Distress Oxides with the Witt & Sass Background Builder Hill Stencil and Layered Clouds Stencil. I used foam dots to pop up certain elements for dimension.

Inside, I included The Grimmerie and a sentiment from the Witt & Sass Friends Sentiment stamp set that reminded me of one of the final songs, "For Good."
