Bright Rainbows and Sweet Mice with MFT's Weekly Sketch Challenge 681

Today, I'm sharing design team inspiration for the My Favorite Things Sketch Weekly Sketch Challenge (#681). The weather outside has been gloomy this week, but I'm in the mood for bright colors. It doesn't get much brighter than a rainbow!

I stamped the mushroom and mouse from the SY The Micest Thing stamp & die duo with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Copic XPress-It Blending Card, then colored them with Copics. I used the matching die to cut out the mouse. For the mushroom, I cut the paper down to fit a corner, then drew circles for a rainbow. I did the same with the sun at the top left: cut a corner-sized square and drew circles and points for a multi-layer sun. I colored them with Copics and then fussy cut the images with scissors.

For the rest of the card, I cut a 5.5" x 4.25" panel of red cardstock for the bottom layer. I cut a 5.25" x 4" panel of white cardstock, then cut a 6.5" x 1" strip of red cardstock. I angled that strip across the white cardstock, glued it down, and cut the edges so it's flush. I popped up the mushroom/rainbow, sun, mouse, and sentiment with foam dots, then adhered them to the white panel.

A Surprising Birthday Card with MFT's New Release

When I saw Jenoblade's new Monster Love stamp set, this scene immediately came to mind. I pulled out a few older stamp sets and played with various shades of green. 

I stamped images from JB Monster Love and the cow from BB The Whole Herd, then colored them with Copics. I cut a 4" x 8.25" panel of black cardstock, then used colored pencils to draw on the tractor beams. I added the ship, cow, and ground with foam dots to give them dimension. I stamped a fitting sentiment from Twice the Wishes, then popped that up as well. A few stars with a white gel pen finished the scene.

Buzzing with Love for MFT's Weekly Sketch Challenge 679

Today, I'm sharing design team inspiration for the My Favorite Things Sketch Weekly Sketch Challenge (#679). I'm enjoying making bright, cheerful cards for spring.

For this happy, love-themed card, I stamped the bee images from the Jenoblade Bee Strong stamp set with Memento Tuxedo Black ink on Copic XPress-It Blending Card. After coloring the images with Copics, I used the matching Die-Namics set to cut them out.

For the background, I cut a 5.25" x 4" panel of Kraft cardstock, then used the Happy Hexagons stencil with some Gina K White Glitz Glitter Gel. After I spread the gel with a palette knife, I put the panel aside to dry.

I cut a small circle from the Wonky Stitched Circle STAX Die-Namics. I cut a 0.75" x 3.5" panel of Smooth White cardstock, then stamped a sentiment from the Freshly Picked Bouquet stamp set. I used scissors to cut a "fishtail" on the right side of the sentiment. I cut a 5.5" x 4.25" panel of Red Hot cardstock for the bottom layer, then added my glittered hexagon layer on top. I added another Red Hot panel (1" x 3.5") under the white sentiment, then attached the circle on the left side. I used foam dots to pop up the sentiment from the card base, as well as the bees on the sentiment layer. Note: Regular glue on foam dots won't stick to the glitz gel, so I used liquid glue on them.

For the inside, I added a Red Hot layer and white layer, then another lovely bee with a bouquet.
